On March 26th, Drum Corps International cancelled the 2020 summer tour due to safety concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. We have subsequently cancelled our regular programming, and replaced it with a special project: The 2020 Zephyrus Virtual Drum & Bugle Corps. Soon after, we merged with the Virtual Drum & Bugle Corps on KickStarter, and set our sights on 2021. -Aaron Morton

Zephyrus family, As we closely monitor the information provided by health services about COVID-19, our top priority remains the safety and wellbeing of our performers and staff. Drum Corps International has released a statement that we feel is perfectly in line with our aims for both optimism and caution. As of right now, we still plan on hosting our April 11th brass and percussion camp, our May 2nd color guard camp, and our Summer rehearsals and tour which don’t begin until June 29th. If anything changes, we will let you know. In the meantime, video auditions are still being accepted at ZTulsa.com. For any questions or concerns, feel free to send an email to [email protected]. -Aaron Morton

He has worked on countless blockbuster films, and now he will be speaking at the 2018 Zephyrus Marching Academy! David Reed James has been a professional sculptor for more than 20 years. Since 1997 he has created huge, immersive sets and props for more than 50 major motion pictures including Avatar, Black Panther, Pirates of the Caribbean, Transformers, Team America, Jurassic World, National Treasure, Indiana Jones, Kill Bill, The Grinch, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. His personal work employs whimsical conceptual and kinetic elements often created using discarded and repurposed materials. A great-stellated-dodecahedron shape made from real cheese pizza slices and a moving ring of dominoes that perpetually knock themselves down are just a couple examples. In the summer of 2013 he moved to Tulsa where he spends his free time with his 10-year-old daughter. During the seminar at ZMA, we will have a discussion about how to take the arts into adult life, and express creativity in everything you do.
